8 Tips To Help You Style The Curvier Body

Hi Ladies!

I have seen what it is like to wake up and just love your curves, and other days you struggling to find something that looks good on you. Then you end up going for the “baggy clothes”. Let us just say we have had enough of that. It is time to accentuate your body and the features you love the most, look good and most importantly feel confident in your body and style. So, I have put together a few tips to help you take another look at your wardrobe and declutter till you have an elegant all-round look.

1. Tailoring

You must have a good tailor close to you. In fact! Make that tailor your friend. Sometimes you wear some clothes, and you just wish that they fit better. And that is fine because we all need a little bit of cinching here and there. Your clothes must always fit and sit nicely on your body. So, find a good tailor and get those clothes to the tailor today.

2. Know when it is fitted or too tight

There is a difference between a dress that is too tight and one that is fitting nicely. One way to tell when it is too tight is when you can see the lines of your undergarments. And that should not be the case. So always make sure that your clothes just sit rightly and not hug your body till your undergarment lines begin to show.

3. Pencil skirts work

When you are shopping for pencil skirts, go for the ones that stop at the knee. Pencil skirts elongate your curves and also give you the right balance. Try out plain ones, stripes, just look for the right detail that will make the best of your curves. Remember that the fit is important too.

4. Try stripes

You should be open to trying different things till you figure out what works for you. Vertical stripes, for example, elongate you and make you look slimmer. Horizontal stripes work too. Try stripes on your dresses, blazers, tops, etc. Stripes are not always a no-no. Try it first, if it works for you, go for it. If not, try something else.

5. Don’t run away from trends

Trends are not bad. You can always incorporate them into your wardrobe. Remember my 70-30 rule? Have 70% classics and 30% trends in your wardrobe. One thing to note when buying trends is, buy pieces that only work with your current closet. If it does not work, it is a big NO.

6. Go for long scarves

carves are fun to wear, and they add that pop effect to your look. Long scarves help you lengthen your body, especially when you are not so tall. They also make you look slimmer. On a workday, you could throw on a long, silky scarf with your suit or pants; you will look longer. You can also throw on a scarf on a casual day when you are rocking your denim. So, it is a must to have a well-detailed, silky and long scarf in your wardrobe.

7. Go for larger bags instead of small bags

Smaller bags will have you looking bigger than you already are and you do not want that, do you? No, exactly. So go for bigger bags, nothing TOO big, medium to large bags should do the trick. I know you are thinking- “ When is a bag too small?”- The trick here is to carry the bag and try to look at it from behind, with your chin over your shoulder. If you cannot see it behind your hand, then it is too small.

8. Wear larger pieces

With statement pieces, go for the large ones. It helps you drive the attention from your body to the accessories. So do not go for the small pieces; you want people to notice the details. The thing with small pieces is that they make you look like you are trying to hide it. You also need to make sure that you do not have your statement pieces everywhere. Just one statement piece is fine; it could be your belt, earrings, necklace, bracelets etc.

The most important thing is to find what works for you and pay attention to the details. I hope you enjoyed reading this and found these tips helpful.
